PILROW WIND FARM

Broadview Energy is seeking to build six wind turbines on farmland east of the M5 about 1km south of Rooksbridge. The current proposal is for six turbines each with a height of 140m to the tip of the blades. The company has been consulting on their proposals and has offered community benefits. The response has been mixed ranging from some people objecting to any development that impacts adversely on residents to others accepting that the proposal would make a positive contribution to renewable energy. This range of views was reflected at a recent meeting of the Allerton Environmental Group. You are invited to respond to the poll on the right hand side of this page and also to comment (by clicking on comments below) - perhaps expanding on your poll response for example saying the height of turbines which you consider to be acceptable or why the development should or should not go ahead..

BANDWIDTH IN THE ALLERTONS

At the September meeting of the Environmental Group, several people expressed concerns about the slow internet connection speeds available in the Allertons especially at cetrtain times including Sundays.  We are seeking to establish whether others in our villages have serious concerns about this.  Please comment (by clicking on comments below) and let us know how this issue is affecting you.

Solar Energy

The current topic of interest for some of us is solar energy.  Several people in the village have had panels installed or are planning to do so. Tell us if you have PV or solar water heating and your experiences of installation and use.  Are they working effectively and is the PV feed in tariff providing the promised income?  Were your installers good and would you recommend them to others?  We hope to have solar energy as the main topic at the October meeting but an initial discussion would be interesting.
